Family photo shoot, but what to do with the photos?

I'm flattered when people can't decide which photos they want as prints or which photos to send to other parts of the family etc etc. One possible solution that more and more clients are deciding on is to have a complete photobook album including a large set of photos from the day. You can order as many copies as you like and in all sorts of sizes. Here's a great example of a recent shoot made into an 8x12" book.
Copies for Nan, Auntie Joan, and the long lost Godmother in New Zealand. We'll even look after the postage - job done!

It had been planned weeks in advance, but who could have predicted it would have been the hottest day of the year?! We had a great couple of hours in the surroundings of Shilton and Bibury in the Cotswolds. Now really looking forward to their wedding in a couple of weeks at Bibury Court.

It's all too easy to forget to actually take some photos of your own children when you're busy taking pictures for a living. Grandparents discovered an old pool table in the shed which kept them entertained for hours and was a good excuse for me to get some slightly different portraits....

It is undoubtedly one of the most exciting times to be involved in making images. More and more we are going to see a cross-over from still photography to moving images. It's worth considering a photographer to work on any video ideas you might have for your business. Here is a 15 second promo video for Quex Park in Birchington which they commissioned to enhance their presence at Kent 20/20 Vision being held at the Detling Showground, Thursday 22nd April. Around the site there will be big displays and this is one of the advertisements running.

The Gibbs family are a fine example of wanting to get that special present. The weather was a bit grim, but we managed some great family photos. They had never done anything like this before and were a little nervous, but soon got into it.

Mobile Studio out at Girls And BoYs Hollywood Night!

We had another great night at Studio 41 in Canterbury, Kent on Saturday setting up the mobile studio for anyone to have their photos taken. Not sure we ever stopped shooting for over 4 hours, but it was a great laugh.

It may well have come to your attention that a lot of local radio stations have been re-branded to Heart in a huge operation by Global Radio. We were pleased to get the job of creating a set of photographs to sum up Heart in the sunshine out and about with its listeners, friends and family. And we're looking forward to being more involved in the future. "Give It Some Heart"!

The genius man behind one of Kent's most successful club nights wanted to do a promo shoot for the club but using regular party goers to do the job. We set up in the club, got a load of body paint, props and costumes and away we went. Here is a quick vid of the night and some of the shots.

For reasons that are a bit complicated, I found myself dans Paris on Valentines day, oh yeah, without my sweetheart which I am still paying for. Anyway, it was a beautiful day and the Tour Eiffel never fails to impress me. OK, it was rammed with tourists and people begging, but which ever way you look at it, it is awesome.

My three Nikon Speedlights are great for location work, but it's good to have some real power in the studio.

Thank you very much to Danny at Elemental UK who guided me through what would be best suited to my needs and he came up with this setup of their M series units. All beautifully made and delivered in a great wheelie case. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

And what better subjects to test them out on than three of the four children who decided that a visit to the fancy dress box was necessary before helping Dad out. And by the way, Harry's (the smallest) hair is a wig although for those who know him could quite easily pass as real!

Even readers in far off distant and hot lands probably won't have escaped the fact that the UK has been under snow for the past couple of days. Of course we can't really deal with it on any level so 1 in 3 of us have been staying at home apparently.

I saw this picture heading home one evening on a local building site and decided to brave the elements later that evening and head out with strange looks from children and wife disappearing in the snow behind me.

The Wood Arrives on the Kent Coast

First of all it was going to be the Sussex border, then Dover, but finally it came ashore at Ramsgate and beyond. You have never seen anything like it and where I was on Ramsgate beach probably accounted for about 1% - just incredible and what will be a major clean-up job for someone. For me it was the opportunity to get some work in the press.....
